Female mixed martial artist Roxanne Modafferi interviewed UFC president Dana White and got him on the record about online MMA journalism, fighters using social media and more.
Roxanne Modafferi may be on a four-year, six-fight losing streak as a mixed martial artist, but as an mma journalist she just scored the biggest interview in the business: UFC president Dana White. Roxy got Dana, who describes himself to her as “the biggest [expletive] fight fan there is,” to open up about his feelings on social media, the internet and online mma journalism for publication on MMA Sucka.
“I literally don’t read the internet anymore,” Dana told her. “I used to go on all the time, but I’m just not into it anymore. I’ve shut myself off from that whole world. All you need to is to get some money, build a website and you’re an instant journalist.”
Roxy added, “(Dana) went on to explain that he doesn’t feel that input from the Internet drove their business, but places like chat sites can breed negativity. He ‘shut off the minority,’ and gets the majority voice through expanding and going off into television.”
